Each letter of the alphabet features a national park, an animal native to that park, and an outdoor activity associated with the park. From "An Avocet Awakes at Acadia" to "A Zebra-Tailed Lizard Zonks Out at Zion," the reader travels from park to park, experiencing the landscapes, wildlife, history, and activities that make each park unique.
Informative sidebars explore deeper topics inspired by interviews with National Park Service rangers, Tribal Nation members, accessibility activists, field scientists, and visitors. This book shares their answers to a key question: "What would you want to say to kids and other visitors about this park?"
