From Elizabeth Person, the artist-  After illustrating the entire Puget Sound, I knew I'd want to make additional maps of the area in more detail. The South Puget Sound is rich in inlets, islands and complex waterways. There are many sailboats, ferries and float planes traversing these wispy waterways. I included as many labels as I could, like ferry sailing routes and destinations as well as lighthouses and state parks.

On the original, I used waterproof ink and watercolor to create the map. The watermark is not included on the print.

Washington State Ferries

Washington State has the largest ferry system in the USA with nearly two dozen drive-on ferries serving the Puget Sound and Salish Sea areas. About 65,000 people use the ferry system here daily! 2,000 employees work for the ferry system, and without this important state-run infrastructure, Washington State would feel much more isolated.
